چکیده

In this paper, we review some basic definitions and properties of FIR filters. We also discusses different types of realizations of digital FIR filters and their uses in some typical applications. We then present some basic building blocks for SC filters. Of particular interest are static and dynamic memory SC circuits, based on SC integrators. These building blocks are the basis for many types of FIR SC filters: direct form, linear-phase direct form, transposed direct form, linear-phase direct form, complementary and half-band FIR filters. We propose several realization of FIR SC filters of which some possibly are new. However, these realizations only demonstrate the principle; they can and should be further improved by using strayinsensitive and offset compensated SC circuits. INTRODUCTION Digital filters can be categorized into two broad classes known as FIR (finite-impulse response) or IIR (infinite-impulse response) filters. The transfer function of an FIR filter of order N-1 is: H(z) = ∑ i=0 N-1 ci zi (1) The poles in the transfer function can only be placed at the origin of the z-plane for non-recursive algorithms. In recursive algorithms, some of the poles may be outside the origin, but these poles are always canceled by zeros. The zeros can be placed anywhere in the z-plane, but they are usually located on the unit circle. Of main interest is FIR filters with linear-phase for which the coefficients exhibits symmetry or antisymmetry [1, 3, 4]. However, in some cases, minimum-phase FIR filters are also used. When working with linear-phase FIR filters it is convenient to define the real function HR(ejωT). H(ejωT) = e-jωτg HR(ejωT) (2) where τg(ejωT) is the group delay of the filter. HR(ejωT) is the frequency response of a non-causal linear-phase filter. HR is often referred to as the zero-phase response. If the impulse response is symmetric, HR can be written:

Stochastic Inner Product Core for Digital FIR Filters

The computational operations of stochastic computing (SC) are governed by probability rules which is different from conventional arithmetic computations. Applications of SC to digital signal and image processing problems have been recently reported in the literature. To improve the computational performance of SC based finite impulse response (FIR) digital filters, a new stochastic inner produc...

0.35 m 22W Multiphase Programmable Clock Generator for Circular Memory SC FIR Filter For Wireless Sensor Applications

The paper presents the programmable multiphase clock generator for switched-capacitor finite impulse response (SC FIR) circular memory filters. The proposed programmable clock circuit enables easy division of such kind of filters into different orders smaller sections, which when connected in series, lead to increase in filter efficiency: reduction of chip area, power dissipation, and rising up...

Anthropogenic forcing on tropospheric ozone and OH since preindustrial times

A global three-dimensional model of tropospheric hemistry is used to investigate the changes in tropospheric 03 and OH since preindustrial times as a result of fuel combustion and industry, biomass burning, and growth in atmospheric CH 4. Model results indicate a 63% increase of the global tropospheric 03 burden from preindustrial times to present (80% and 50% in the northern and southern hemis...

New multi-band observations of the famous compact group of galaxies Stephan's Quintet (SQ) are presented and analyzed. These include far infrared (FIR) images at 60µm and 100µm (ISOPHOT C-100 camera), radio continuum images at 1.4 GHz (VLA B-array) and 4.86 GHz (VLA C-array), and long-slit optical spectrographs (Palomar 200 " telescope). With these new data, we aim to learn more about the X-ray...

Complex Correction of Data Acquisition Channels Using FIR Equalizer Filters

The common conviction about FIR (finite impulse response) digital filters is that the number of necessary taps, to reach the same performance as provided by IIR (infinite impulse response) digital filters, is usually too large. Moreover, the standard FIR filter design algorithm (Remez exchange) allows the design of linear-phase filters only. Therefore, IIR filters are often preferred over FIR o...
